Lumbar Spine Injuries with Double Level Anterior Discectomy and Fusion Surgery Pre-operative Condition - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit begins with an actual x-ray of the lumber spine and a color interpretation of the x-ray film showing a sagittal (side cut-away) view of the lumbar spine illustrating the pre-operative condition. This image clearly reveals the disc protrusions at L3-4, L4-5 and the herniated disc at L5-S1. Also shown are four steps of the anterior discectomy and fusion procedure. The first step shown is an incision made into the lower abdomen exposing the lumbosacral spine. Next the Lf-5 and L5-S1 intervertebral discs are removed. Then the endplates are removed and the disc space is prepared with a curette. Finally a BAK fusion cage is packed with allograft and inserted into the disc spaces at L4-5 and L5-S1.
